ROLE

We are seeking a Graduate ML Deployment Engineer to join our machine learning and deployment team. This is a deployment-focused machine learning role, working closely with our data, engineering and customer teams to take machine learning models from development into production systems running 24×7.

The role will involve:

• Training and retraining machine learning models using real-world production data.
• Training machine learning models to help setup new inspection lines.
• Evaluating model performance using appropriate ML metrics and production data.
• Analysing model failures and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Working with the data team to understand data quality, distribution shifts, difficult cases and model failure modes.
• Translating findings from production data into improvements to models, training data and evaluation processes.
• Preparing ML models for production deployment and working with engineering teams to integrate them into production systems.
• Optimising models for inference performance, reliability and deployment constraints.
• Monitoring model performance following deployment and supporting continuous improvement.
• Working across ML development, data operations and deployment to ensure models perform reliably in real-world manufacturing environments.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys practical machine learning, solving problems with real-world data, and understanding the complete journey from model training to production deployment.

ESSENTIAL:

• Vision machine learning experience
• Ability to train (and retrain) custom ML models from real world data
• Familiarity with image data and interest in computer vision applications
• ML Ops and model deployment
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
• Proficient in English (written and verbal)
• Available to work from Manchester office (minimum 3 days in the office Tue-Thurs mandatory)

NICE TO HAVE:

• Experience with multiple Vision ML models
• ML deployment to registries
• Docker experience
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes or defect types in industrial components.
• Interest in AI-driven visual inspection and data-centric AI development.
